ABP buys its third production facility in Poland

Larry Goodman’s ABP Food Group, the international meat, pet food and renewables business, has expanded its operations in Poland with the acquisition of a production facility in the east of the country.

The facility, acquired from Polish processor Sklodowsky, will increase ABP’s production capacity in Poland to up to 250,000 cattle per year.
The announcement comes just a week after the European Commission cleared the acquisition of Slaney Foods and Slaney Proteins by ABP and Britain’s Fane Valley.

ABP began operations in Poland in 2011 after it bought a facility in Pniewy. This was followed by the acquisition of a second facility in Klosowice in 2013.
ABP will now employ almost 600 people in Poland and has invested significantly in the country.

Production has already started at ABP Tykocin. The main markets for beef produced at the facility include Poland, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Slovenia and Lithuania.
ABP Food Group will be attending the SIAL International Food Expo in Paris this week, where it will be meeting with buyers and procurement managers from many of Europe’s top retail and food service companies.

This trade show is dedicated to the agri-food industry, food retail, and institutional and commercial catering.
