Unemployment in Ireland fell to 7.9pc last month, down from 8.2pc figure for August.
Overall, there was a 7,300 reduction in the amount of registered unemployed last month, with the national figure for those out of work now standing at 172,900.
The figure for September of this year represents an annual decline of 1.2pc compared to the same month in 2015, a decrease of 24,000.
Irish unemployment is now running at its lowest rate since 2008, having hit a high of over 15pc back in 2012.
Youth unemployment is now at 15.9pc, having reached in excess of 33.6pc in 2012. In total, there are 32,400 people between the age of 15-25 without work.
